TSTCM Massage Marathon Fundraising for the Heart and Stroke Foundation

May 2005

TSTCM Students led by school President Dr. Mary Wu organized the TCM Massage Marathon Fundraising Event for the Heart on May 14 & 15 at Markham Village. All massage proceeds go to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario. Approximately $2000 was raised in the two-day marathon. Patients felt positive effects after just five minutes of tuina massage. Some people felt much more relaxed, while others felt more energized. Many experienced the immediate relief of pain, stiffness and soreness of the neck, shoulder, back and legs. The results were so positive that many people came back the second day for another treatment, having brought their family and friends with them!

The event was a great opportunity for students to apply TCM knowledge and tuina massage, while raising money for a good cause. This event is also meaningful because it also provides the general public with an opportunity to gain some basic knowledge of TCM, and to experience the healing power of TCM tuina massage. It yielded multiple benefits for many people, including the general public, the students, the heart and stroke foundation, the students and the sponsors.

This event was sponsored by Becel, Jingutong, Weitanai and the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
