-Government funding for Ginseng Project
February 8, 2008
Minister of Research and Innovation made an announcement of over $6 million funding for New Technologies for Ginseng Agriculture and Product Development led by Dr. Ed Lui at the University of Western Ontario yesterday. The Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TSTCM) is one of the participants of this research project.
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Ginseng as a Qi tonic has been used for thousands of years for health promotion, disease prevention, and treatments with significant benefits for mental, physical and sexual vital energy in many systems. With the government funding, research in developing new technology and new products for Ginseng will be possible. These results of research and innovation will not only enrich our knowledge but also enhance the benefit of ginseng for our health.
This funding is also an indication and beginning of the confidence and support of the government for natural health products and for TCM. TSTCM is very excited and getting prepared for the starting of the projects.
