Course Name: TCM Treatment I

Course Code: 601

Course Description: This course in combination with TCM treatment II teaches diseases in the department of internal medicine, identified by TCM names. Starting with an introduction to TCM Internal Medicine, this course introduces the definition, characteristics, procedure and principles of diagnosis and treatment, as well as therapeutic principles and methods of internal diseases in TCM. The pathogenesis and syndromes of qi, blood diseases, wind, cold, dryness and fire, dampness, phlegm and fluids, zang fu organs, six channels and four levels are also reviewed and discussed. Students learn the TCM definition, etiology and pathogenesis, diagnosis, differentiation and treatment of a wide range of disease using Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, and other TCM modalities. This course focuses on diseases of respiratory, digestive system, urinary and genital system.
