Course Name: TCM Theory and Diagnostics III

Course Description: The focus of this course is differentiation of syndromes (Bian Zheng), which manifest as conceptual differences between TCM and western medicine. For a TCM professional, the different aspects of a disease are always studied in their correlation to the state of health of each individual patient. Differentiation of syndromes constitutes the fundamental characteristic for the practice of TCM and it is the determine factor for safe and effective treatments. Students learn the differentiation of syndromes according to eight principles, pathogenic factors and pathogenesis, qi, blood and body fluids, zang fu organs and five elements, the four levels (wei, qi, ying and xue) and three warmers, the six channels, the channels and collaterals. The contents and format of patient records will be introduced and practiced.
